Hygiene for falconers
Hygiene is vital for the falconer. Blocks become soiled and can introduce bacteria into the feet causing bumble foot, even aviaries used when birds are free lifted become soiled.
The naieve say that nobody cleans up after the bird in the wild, but nature does that with sunlight and rain, covered mews and aviaries can harbour harmful organisms. Fungal spores can grow and cause Aspergillosis ll too easily.
Ark-klens is our key cleaner, it is cheap and extremely effective. It can be sprayed around whilst the bird is present and surfaces can be wiped down. it kills the majority of common bacteria, flu virus, psittacosis/ornithosis and Aspergillus.
For the falconer who wants to do a periodic blitz, we recommend Tamodine E, this is an iodophor which again kills, viruses, bacteria and fungi. It is brown so that you can see where you have put it.
